For founders, communications leads and anyone announcing one thing
Wire ReadyA press release journalists will read - from the news angle to the end mark.
A press release is a news document, not an advertisement. Enter the facts of one announcement and get - free in your browser - the ten questions a release needs answered, the release type's mandatory elements, the designation, the dateline in your market's format, the market's style guide and send window, and a linter that holds any release to the journalist quality bar: a lead of 25-35 words, 300-500 words in all, third person outside quotes, "said", no banned phrases, a number, a boilerplate under 100 words, a contact and an end mark. Then, in one sitting: find the angle and pick a headline, draft the release, and review it before it goes out. It never invents a number, a customer or a quote that the brief does not give.

"Company X today launched the first..." is news. "Company X, a leader in..." is not.

How it works - and what is sourced
The order is the skill's: gather the facts (the ten required questions), identify the news angle and validate it against the five news values (impact, timeliness, prominence, novelty, proximity), propose 5-10 headlines with different hooks, write the release in the universal structure following the inverted pyramid, apply the quality checks, and deliver it with an angle note and next steps - distribution timing, a journalist pitch, a social teaser and a shortlist.
Sourced from the skill and its references: the universal structure, the quality checklist, the banned phrases and the attribution rule (writing principles), the mandatory elements per release type, and the dateline formats, style guides and send windows per market (regional conventions). The page's own heuristics - reading Title Case from capitalized words, passive voice from "was" plus a participle, superlatives from a word list - are marked unclear rather than failed, and the review lane settles them. A quote the draft lane writes is drafted from what you said it should say, for the speaker to approve.
